BAGUETTE

In the 1920s, Cartier created a series of miniature wristwatches, each less than a centimeter wide, decorated with precious stones.
Hugely successful, they were known as “baguette watches”.
They also evoked a type of cut, the “baguette cut” which Louis Cartier made popular as from the early years of the twentieth century.
Consisting of a narrow rectangle with a flat top, it is particularly admired for the skill it requires.
