DOUBLET
A doublet is an assembly of two stones, by joining or fusion, intended to imitate a natural stone.
The assembled stones can be natural or synthetic stones, or even glass.
Garnet-glass doublets were very commonly used to imitate rubies and sapphires until the 1950s.
All kinds of doublets are still produced today, often joining together three or four elements.
