KUNZITE
This attractive lilac-pink to mauve stone was identified and made popular among jewelers by American mineralogist George E. Kunz, after whom it is named.
Unfortunately, kunzite splits easily when being cut. Cartier used it in 1991 for the brooches in the Route des Indes collection. Spodumene (silicate of aluminium and lithium). Hardness: 7. Madagascar, Brazil.
