REFRACTIVENESS
The capacity to refract - i.e. to cause to deviate - light. Of all precious stones, the diamond is the most refractive (in other words it has the highest refractive index). The higher the refractive index, the longer the ray of light will take to travel through the stone, and the greater the luster.
