The Caliber 9438 MC combines two complications - the tourbillon and the chronograph - in a movement with an 8-day power reserve. For this exceptional caliber, Cartier has opted for a column-wheel transmission system for the chronograph functions. Thus the column wheel coordinates all phases of the chronograph hand: start, stop and reset-to-zero. Another characteristic of this movement with manual winding: it has a power reserve of 8 days with a stop-work mechanism that ensures constant timekeeping and thus avoids any untimely stopping of the watch. Special attention has been devoted to details: the mirror-polished bridge is engraved with the seconds scale. The carriage rotates once every minute, so that the seconds can be displayed by the hand mounted on the spindle of the carriage.
