CARTIER 1900-1939 (1997)

1997: New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art

1997-1998: London, British Museum

1999-2000: Chicago, Field Museum

The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the British Museum hosted the Cartier 1900-1939 exhibition to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Maison. The exhibition told the story of Cartier design from the early days of the Modern Style to the eve of the Second World War. The exhibition catalog was the result of detailed research by Judy Rudoe, distinguished curator at the British Museum, and Stewart Johnson, of the Met’s Department of Design.
The New York exhibition ran for four months and attracted over 420,000 visitors. It was continued at the Field Museum in Chicago the following year.
