Cartier, a unique heritage
LIVING LEGACY
Cartier's commitment to heritage is inherent in its mission as a jeweler. Preserving, enhancing and transmitting are the principles that have guided the Maison for over a century and a half. A living heritage, which contributes to sustaining Cartier’s style and enhancing its High Jewelry creations.
ARCHIVES
Very early on, Cartier decided to systematically preserve the history of its productive activity. The Archives thus feature a unique and confidential collection where each creation is documented, from its design to its marketing. Guaranteed authenticity, key in the world of art.
THE CARTIER COLLECTION, A MEDIUM FOR SHARING
Created in 1983, the Cartier Collection now includes more than 3,000 pieces, from the very beginnings of the Maison to the early 2000s. They are all precious milestones that trace the creative history of Cartier and demonstrate the excellence of its savoir-faire. The Cartier Collection thus plays a significant role in passing down the Maison's style and culture, both to its designers and craftsmen and to the public through major museum exhibitions.
ARTISTIC AND CULTURAL RECOGNITION
THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
Since 1989, more than thirty-five monographic exhibitions have been dedicated to Cartier by the world's largest museums. The Maison also regularly accepts requests from prestigious institutions by lending historical pieces and archived documents for themed exhibitions. All these events attest to the artistic and cultural recognition given to Cartier creations.
CARTIER TRADITION, A LIVING HERITAGE
Cartier creations have been passed down from generation to generation. Aware of their appeal through time, Cartier Tradition sells antique pieces to collectors of jewelry, watches and precious objects. With the help of the archives, each creation is first selected then authenticated by the Maison’s experts. It is then meticulously restored by specialized craftsmen.
BIBLIOGRAPHIC REFERENCE MATERIALS AND WORKS
Cartier regularly features in exhibition catalogs, monographs and even in books dedicated to the decorative arts that demonstrate the cultural and artistic influence of the Maison. Among this extensive bibliography, each year a work is dedicated to a new High Jewelry collection, offering an exclusive insight on a contemporary creation.
