Cartier Design: A Living Legacy

CARTIER DESIGN: A LIVING LEGACY AT THE MUSEO JUMEX IN MEXICO

Cartier Design: A Living Legacy, held from March 15th to May 14th, 2023 at the Museo Jumex in Mexico, set out on a precious journey through the history of the Maison and its renowned creations. The exhibition was curated by Ana Elena Mallet with museography designed by architect Frida Escobedo.

Through around 160 objects from the Cartier Collection and private collections, as well as original archives documents, the exhibition delved into the Cartier style, its distinctive language and excellent savoir-faire, and traced the transmission of that vocabulary over time.

The selected creations, from the early 20th century to the present day, were a testament to how Cartier’s living heritage served as a reference for new generations of designers, who would pay tribute to it, keeping it alive in its distinctive pioneering spirit, and re-imagining it for the present and the future.

The exhibition featured a room dedicated to Mexican actress María Félix, one of Cartier’s most legendary clients.
