Sarah Sze, Night into Day
Artavazd Pelechian, Nature, The Seasons
С 24 октября 2020 по 7 марта 2021
20 years after her first exhibition at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, the American artist, Sarah Sze, has been invited back to create an immersive installation using the transparent galleries of Jean Nouvel’s iconic building. Inspired by scientific models of the planetarium and the clock, the two installations that she is presenting explore how the proliferation of images transforms our relationship with objects, in time and in our memory.
The Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain presents the world premiere of Nature, the new film by legendary filmmaker Artavazd Pelechian. This film, his first in 27 years, explores the precarious coexistence between human communities and their natural environment. The exhibition also invites visitors to rediscover the film The Seasons, a lyrical ode to peasant life produced in 1975. Brought together in this way, these two essential works engage in a dialogue that resonates deeply with the challenges of today. Supplemented by a room dedicated to the filmmaker’s life and work, the exhibition presents a unique portrait of an artist whose filmography is as infrequent as it is celebrated.
