The Ocelle Necklace
Of all birds, the peacock is possibly the most fascinating. The Ocelle necklace pays tribute to this bird with two opals weighing 16.59 and 6.19 carats respectively, and a 21.18-carat Zambian emerald pendant. The ocelli, the famous spots in the peacock's plumage, are miniaturised and multiplied into a stylised and graphic whole. Each motif is highlighted by an onyx trim. These small feathers partly overlap each other and are mobile enough to lift up slightly, thanks to invisible articulations which constitute the body of the necklace and provide it with extreme suppleness. The opals and emerald are cut and mounted on the pavilion to allow an invisible setting. The upper opal may be detached and worn as a brooch.
