JEWELLERY ADJUST OR REPAIR

The services listed below are intended to maintain and personalise your creations. 

In the majority of cases they are carried out in our boutique. 

All of these services are offered by the Maison.

Shining service 

Has your jewellery creation lost its shine or has its surface become scratched? The shining service allows Cartier to restore your creation's original shine and to remove all superficial scratches. It includes a diagnosis, buffing, cleaning and a technical and aesthetical check of your creation.

Engraving

The engraving service enables you to personalise your Cartier creation by having either a name, phrase or date (in several languages) or a symbol or design engraved on it (subject to technical constraints and the space available).

Cord replacement

According to the season and your wishes, Cartier is pleased to offer you the replacement of your cord with a new one in the colour of your choice.

This service allows you to increase or reduce the size of your ring, chain bracelet, and necklace or replace the clasp of your earrings without altering the aesthetics or original shape.

All adjustment requests are subject to technical feasibility.

Carried out by Cartier specialist jewellers, this service includes several steps:

• diagnosis: Cartier’s jewellers take the time to examine your creation to identify the tasks that need to be performed.
• re-sizing: we will suggest the most suitable method to adjust the size of your creation according to its shape.
• polishing: this stage requires particular expertise to avoid distorting your jewellery piece. The Cartier jewellers will follow a series of steps to achieve a final result that meets Cartier’s requirements: a “mirror-polished” look.
• cleaning: if your jewellery creation permits it, it will be immersed in an ultrasonic tank.
• rhodium finishing, if necessary: white gold and platinum can be rhodium-finished to enhance the creation’s whiteness and brilliance. Before polishing, the remaining layer of rhodium is removed. After polishing, the creation is immersed in a rhodium bath.

The jeweller then carries out a final check to ensure that your creation meets Cartier’s strict quality requirements.

The first re-sizing and clasp replacement is complimentary, and MYR 825 subsequently.

Necklace re-sizing (up to 4 cm)

The length of your necklace can be adjusted by increasing or reducing the chain by a maximum of 4 cm. This service is not available for paved creations.

Chain Bracelet Re-Sizing

The length of your bracelet can be adjusted by increasing or reducing the chain by a maximum of 2 cm. This service is not available for paved creations or bangle-style bracelets.

Ring re-sizing

The size of your ring can be increased or reduced subject to technical feasibility. This service is not available for paved creations.

Adjusting the clasp of earrings

The model and the size of the clasp of your earrings can be adapted to ensure maximum comfort.

These different services are intended to preserve your creation over time, allowing it to be maintained, as closely as possible, to its original state.

Whatever the service requested, each of the listed interventions will be carried out to ensure the integrity of your creation.

Regardless of the number of interventions carried out, the price will be MYR 825 (any replacement components will be invoiced separately).

Repair or replacement of a component

Has an element of your Cartier creation been damaged or lost? A new component can be added or replaced. This part is invoiced in addition to the price of the service.

Reshaping

If your Cartier creation is distorted, our reshaping service will restore its original shape.

Clasp or link repair

If the clasp or link of your Cartier creation is damaged, we recommend that you have it repaired to avoid losing it. This service involves various meticulous and delicate operations that will be carried out by Cartier jewellers.

Polishing

Has the surface of your jewellery piece become scratched? A polishing service can be carried out by Cartier jewellers and polishers, involving several meticulous and delicate operations. We recommend that you do not carry out more than three polishing services throughout the lifetime of your creation, to preserve its shape.

Stone/pearl replacement

Has a stone or pearl on your jewellery piece been damaged? Would you like to replace it? The stone or pearl replacement service will fulfil your request thanks to various meticulous and delicate operations carried out by Cartier jewellers. The stones and pearls are not included in the replacement service and will be invoiced separately.

Restoration or reproduction occurs when the piece is badly damaged and repair is not possible.

A restoration diagnosis will be carried out in order to restore (a highly complex production process requiring rare know-how) or reproduction of the piece if the former is not possible.

These services are carried out upon request.

This service makes it possible to proceed with the restoration or repair of a creation requiring specific materials, as well as very rare skills or know-how.

Pairing

If your creation is composed of two parts, one of which has been lost, the pairing service will allow the production a new 'partner' piece.

Reproduction

If your piece is extremely worn or damaged, or if it cannot be re-sized, you can consult the reproduction service. It may be possible to produce a new piece. The number engraved on the new piece will be the same as the one on the original piece.
