A pioneering role
RESPONSIBLE JEWELLERY COUNCIL: CARTIER – A FOUNDING MEMBER (2005)
An indisputable reference in the luxury sector, Cartier occupies a unique position in the world of jewellery which carries with it a responsibility to act as a role model within the industry. We have chosen to embody this responsibility through efforts which extend beyond the Maison's own activities.
Hence, Cartier elected to be one of the 14 founding members of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) in 2005.
The mission of this not-for-profit organisation is to establish a code of conduct for participants in the jewellery trade – including precious watches – from mine to retail.
The RJC works to:
- Clearly define the ethical, social and environmental standards applicable to all stakeholders in the gold and diamond jewellery industry
- Promote and facilitate the implementation of these standards
- Ensure the implementation of these standards is verified through independent third-party monitoring
Through the sharing of best practices and the pursuit of continuous improvement, the RJC aims to bring together stakeholders of all sizes and from all areas of the jewellery industry. This powerful movement has attracted over 1000 member organisations to date.
Cartier continues to invite other industry stakeholders to join the movement.
