Santos de Cartier watch

1904, Louis Cartier granted the wish of the famous Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont: to be able to tell time while flying. The birth of one of the first ever wristwatches sealed the bonds of friendship between these two pioneers. The rounded angles of the dial, the seamless curve of the horns, and the exposed screws made for an iconic watch that would inspire countless reinterpretations.

Second strap in gray calfskin leather, with interchangeable 18K yellow gold (750/1000) folding buckle. Both are fitted with the QuickSwitch interchangeable system. Hours and minutes with skeletonized bridges forming Roman numerals. Movement consisting of 138 parts including 20 rubies. Movement dimensions: 28 mm x 28 mm, movement thickness: 3.97 mm, balance: 28,800 vibrations/hour, power reserve approx. 72 hours. Case width: 39.7 mm, thickness: 9.08 mm. Water-resistant to 10 bar (approx. 100 meters/300 feet).
