Chains should be closed and laid flat to avoid knots.

For Cartier, stones and all precious materials are eternal. To maintain their original beauty, they need to be treated with care. These precautions will ensure that they continue to shine with the same intensity over time. After swimming, make sure to rinse your water-resistant watch in clean water so as to neutralise the harmful effects of seawater or chlorine.
DIAMONDS
Diamonds are the hardest of all stones. They can be worn with confidence every day, but care must be taken to avoid knocks. To clean, use warm soapy water before drying with a soft dry cloth.
SAPPHIRES AND RUBIES
Although very hard, sapphires and rubies are sensitive to knocks. Like all precious materials, these gems must be handled with care to avoid scratches and breakages. We recommend that you have your jewellery cleaned in-store regularly to avoid any mishandling. Sapphires and rubies cannot withstand ultrasound cleaning.
EMERALDS
Emeralds need to be handled with care to avoid scratches and chips. They cannot withstand rhodium plating or ultrasound cleaning. You should avoid liquids, as well as heat, perfumes, cosmetics and household products, which could damage them.
We recommend that you have your creation cleaned periodically in a boutique to avoid any mishandling.
MOTHER-OF-PEARL AND PEARLS
Mother-of-pearl and pearls are sensitive to friction with other materials, which can scratch them. We recommend that you avoid liquids, heat, perfumes, cosmetics and household products that can damage them. Pearls and mother-of-pearl do not tolerate ultrasound cleaning.
A soft cloth is all you need to care for them.
ONYX
Onyx should be handled with care as it is sensitive to scratches and knocks. To clean onyx, use warm soapy water and a small soft brush before drying with a soft cloth. Onyx does not tolerate contact with solvents.
MALACHITE
Malachite is sensitive to knocks and friction with all materials, which can scratch it. Liquids, perfumes and household products should be avoided. Malachite does not tolerate ultrasound cleaning.
