Your jewelry should be cleaned regularly. Once every year, visit a Cartier boutique to have them checked, cleaned and restored.
If your jewelry contains stones, the task of cleaning them should be entrusted to one of our jewelry advisors at a Cartier boutique. It is also possible to clean your creation with a very soft brush in soapy water and then rinse it in clean water. You can find our specific advice on stones here.

Jewelry pieces can scratch when they come in contact with each other. We recommend that you store them individually in the Cartier case provided at the time of their purchase, with the mechanism closed.
Chains must be closed and laid flat to avoid knots.

For Cartier, stones and all precious materials are eternal. To maintain their original beauty, they need to be treated with care. These precautions will ensure that they continue to shine with the same intensity over time. After swimming, make sure to rinse your water-resistant watch in clean water so as to neutralize the effects of seawater or chlorine.
DIAMONDS
Diamonds are the hardest stones. They can be worn with confidence in everyday life. However, it is important to be careful when wearing them. To clean, use warm soapy water before drying with a soft dry cloth.
SAPPHIRES AND RUBIES
Although very hard, sapphires and rubies are sensitive to knocks. Like all precious materials, these gems must be handled with care to avoid scratches and breakages. We recommend that you have your jewelry cleaned in store regularly to avoid any mishandling. Sapphires and rubies cannot withstand ultrasonic cleaning.
EMERALDS
Emeralds need to be handled with care to avoid scratches and chips. They cannot withstand rhodium plating or ultrasonic cleaning. Heat, perfumes, cosmetics and household products and liquids should all be avoided as they can cause damage.
We recommend that you have your creation cleaned periodically in a boutique to avoid any mishandling.
MOTHER-OF-PEARL AND PEARLS
Mother-of-pearl and pearls are sensitive to friction with other materials, which can scratch them. Heat, perfumes, cosmetics, household products and liquids should all be avoided as they can cause damage. Pearls and mother-of-pearl are not suitable for ultrasonic cleaning.
A soft cloth will be enough to keep them clean.
ONYX
Onyx should be handled with care as it is sensitive to scratches and knocks. To clean onyx, use warm soapy water and a small brush before drying with a soft cloth. Onyx does not tolerate contact with solvents.
MALACHITE
Malachite is sensitive to knocks and friction with all materials, which can scratch it. Liquids, perfumes and household products should be avoided. Malachite is not suitable for ultrasonic cleaning.
