Exchanges & Returns

Timing 

Cartier allows a client or gift recipient to return or exchange Cartier creations purchased from Cartier within thirty (30) days of receipt of the creation.  

 

Location 

Creations purchased online or via phone may be returned through the Cartier Returns portal or exchanged via phone through Cartier Client Relations. You may also visit a Cartier boutique in the same country of purchase to process your return or exchange.  

 

Creations purchased in Cartier boutiques may be returned or exchanged at a boutique within the same country of purchase. Please note that there may be a difference in taxes when exchanging your purchase in a different boutique, and local taxes must be paid when exiting the boutique with a new creation. 

 

Conditions 

All Cartier creations must be returned in a new and unused state, in perfect condition, with all protective materials in place and tags and stickers attached to them. We are unable to accept any return if the product shows signs of wear or has been used or altered from its original condition in any way. 

  • It is not possible to return or exchange creations that have been engraved, embossed, modified, or personalized. 
  • Watch bracelets that have been adjusted must be returned with the exact same number of links as in the original delivery package. 
  • The returned or exchanged creation must belong to a current collection; we cannot exchange discontinued pieces.

Should you wish to exchange your Cartier.com or Client Relations phone purchase, you may either visit a Cartier boutique or complete the exchange by mail using the steps below:

  1. Contact Cartier Client Relations

To ensure the availability of the creation you wish to receive in exchange, please contact Cartier Client Relations at 1-800-Cartier to begin your exchange.

  1. Package Your Creation

Prior to placing your creation in the box, ensure that any clasps or parts are secured, and the piece will not have any friction during transit. For LOVE bracelets, please return the screwdriver into the pouch and secure it in the top of the lid for transit.

Place your red box and packing list into the white protective box. If you are unable to locate your packing list, please include a note with your name and order number (located on your confirmation email) on it so that we may connect the return to the appropriate purchaser. If the outmost white box or brown shipping box are damaged, you may use your own.

Close the white protective box, place it in the brown shipping box, and seal the brown box with packaging tape. For security purposes, please ensure that the box is not marked with any insight as to what is inside. For example, do not write anything relating to Cartier on the box.

  1. Drop Off Your Creation

Place the pre-paid shipping label sent to you by Cartier Client Relations on the top of the box and take the package to the shipping facility near you.

We recommend keeping the tracking information for your visibility so that you may track the path within our quality control process; taking a photo of the label is a convenient way to record this information.

Once received, your creation will enter our quality control inspection process. If the creation is determined to be acceptable for return, it may take approximately seven business days for your exchange to be processed. (Please note that this timeframe may be longer around holidays or other popular gifting seasons.) If the creation is unable to pass the quality control inspection, we will be in touch with the next steps to return the original creation back to you.

  2. A Cartier Ambassador will provide you with a unique return authorization number, which must be noted on the return form included in the original shipment.
  3. For security purposes, when mailing any Cartier creation, please do not indicate Cartier or the contents of the package on the outside.
  4. Please send back your return or exchange via the provided pre-paid FedEx shipping label. We recommend keeping the tracking information for your visibility so that you may track the path within our quality control process; taking a photo of the label is a convenient way to record this information.

Once received, your creation will enter our quality control inspection process. If the creation is determined to be acceptable for return, it may take approximately seven business days for your refund or exchange to be fully processed. (Please note that this timeframe may be longer around holidays or other popular gifting seasons.) If the creation is unable to pass the quality control inspection, we will be in touch with the next steps to return the creation back to you.

If using a FedEx label provided by Cartier, your creation will be shipped to us with 2-day shipping. Once received, your creation will enter our quality control inspection process. Should the creation be determined to be acceptable for return, it may take five to seven business days for your refund or exchange to be fully processed. Please note that this estimate may be extended during elevated holiday or gifting seasons.

You may choose to exchange or return an item that was purchased and gifted to you using our return and exchange methods. Any refunded amount, including any remaining balance in the case of an exchange, will be automatically reimbursed to the original purchaser.

Please note that we are unable to provide merchandise credit for online and phone purchases. For merchandise credits, please process your return or exchange in a Cartier boutique.

You are welcome to visit a Cartier boutique within the same country of your original purchase to exchange or refund your online and phone purchases.

Creations purchased in North America Cartier boutiques may be returned for a refund, exchange, or merchandise credit within 30 days of purchase. All returns and exchanges must meet the conditions for return and belong to a current collection, as we do not exchange discontinued pieces.

Boutique Refunds

Credit card refunds will be issued to the original purchaser via the original method of payment; the original cardholder will need to be present in order to refund the card. Certain purchases may be returned for merchandise credit only; this will be communicated to you at time of purchase. Purchases made in cash will be refunded to the original purchaser via mailed check.

Boutique Exchanges

When exchanging a purchase made from outside of the boutique, please note that you may be responsible for any potential tax differences, as all local taxes must be paid when leaving the boutique with a new creation.

Visit our Find A Boutique page to find more information on your boutique, including store hours and location. For a timely and optimal return or exchange experience, we recommend booking a boutique appointment prior to your visit.

All returns and exchanges must be made within the country of purchase. Cartier Client Relations for North America may assist with both Canadian and United States purchases; however, Cartier boutiques in the United States and Canada may only process returns for purchases made within their respective countries.

Any protective materials such as casings are there to ensure your Cartier purchase remains in a condition eligible for return or exchange. If you have removed any protective materials, the creation must still be in a pristine, unworn condition to qualify under the return and exchange policy. We are unable to accept any return if the product shows signs of wear, including scratches.

Cartier allows earrings in pristine, unworn condition to be returned or exchanged, subject to our Return/Exchange Policy and Conditions of Sale.

Please note that you may request a service to adapt the model and the size of the clasp of your earrings to ensure maximum comfort. The first earring clasp adjustment service is complimentary.
