ASIA IMAGINED IN THE BAUR AND CARTIER COLLECTIONS
Baur Foundation, Museum of Far Eastern Art – Geneva
From November 12th, 2015 to February 14th, 2016, the Baur Foundation in Geneva presented Asia Imagined in the Baur and Cartier collections, an exceptional exhibition designed to showcase and highlight the connective thread between Asia and the Cartier and Baur Foundation collections. More than 160 pieces from the Cartier Collection and close to 100 pieces from the Baur Foundation collections were on display. Estelle Niklès van Osselt, an expert on China and the exhibition’s curator, envisioned the juxtaposition as a way to explore how Asian art, culture, and design inspired and captivated both the jeweler Louis Cartier and collector Alfred Baur.
